Two-way prepositions: where or where to?
in, an, auf, über, unter, vor, hinter, neben and zwischen take the accusative for movement and the dative for location.

- Use the verb pairs stellen/stehen, legen/liegen, hängen/hängen, setzen/sitzen
Nine prepositions can take two cases: an, auf, hinter, in, neben, über, unter, vor, zwischen.
Wohin? (where to – a movement to a new place) → accusative: „Ich lege das Buch auf den Tisch.“
Wo? (where – a position) → dative: „Das Buch liegt auf dem Tisch.“

Examples
Ich gehe heute Abend ins Kino.
I'm going to the cinema tonight.
Der Drucker steht zwischen dem Regal und dem Fenster.
The printer is between the shelf and the window.
