Noun–verb collocations
Fixed combinations such as „eine Entscheidung treffen“ make academic and formal German precise.
In this lesson you will
- Learn 15 frequent noun–verb collocations
- Replace a simple verb with a collocation in formal texts
In a noun–verb collocation, the noun carries the meaning and the verb is almost empty: „eine Entscheidung treffen“ = „entscheiden“. You cannot freely swap the verb („eine Entscheidung machen“ is wrong), so learn them as units.
