Studienkolleg entrance test and Feststellungsprüfung

If your school-leaving certificate does not give direct university access in Germany, a Studienkolleg prepares you for the Feststellungsprüfung.

Entrance requirements are set by each Studienkolleg

Who it is for

  • Applicants whose foreign school certificate is not recognised as direct higher-education entrance qualification (HZB)

Scoring

  • There is no single national scoring rule for Studienkolleg entrance tests. German Prep practice results are percentages only (illustrative).

Recognition

  • RO-DT 2020 § 2 and § 5: the German part of the Feststellungsprüfung counts as proof of German proficiency.
  • DAAD: state Studienkollegs usually charge no tuition apart from the semester fee; private Studienkollegs often charge fees.
  • DAAD: you can also prepare on your own and take the Feststellungsprüfung as an external candidate, where places allow.

Preparation tips

  • Train C-tests and B1 grammar for the German part of many entrance tests, and revise school mathematics for T/W courses.
